The community of Hatteras is home to a unique museum, the Graveyard of the Atlantic Museum. This museum houses the original Fresnel lamp and its rotating pedestal from the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse, as well was many other artifacts and a quaint little gift shop.  Real estate in the area is mostly of the rental nature aimed toward the flourishing Outer Banks tourist industry.
